"Kia"
News Flash: Kia has been invited to Eukanuba Dog Show!
What a name! Kia came by it honestly enough. The litter theme was "Cars". We had
Mercedes, Porsche, Elise, Shelby, and Jetta. It came about when my
oldest son said, "Do we have to keep the pup named Kia? You can't even
give a Kia away." While he said it in reference to the cheap car line,
it gave me the idea.
This pup was busy from the get-go. Always finding new ways of doing
things, constantly retrieving, and stirring up trouble here at home.
The more I taught her the more she needed to keep her busy body happy.
So I put her into training with a local field trainer.
She has blossomed under this gal's care. Kia is a happy dog, and she
gets even happier when working. She has been described to me as a
work-aholic of the dog world. She demands to work, and learn new
things. Retrieving birds is fun, but when we make it more difficult for
her then she shines; multiple marks, long retrieves, and heavy cover and
she starts to think and work even harder. Soon we will be running
Junior and Senior hunt tests. At the rate she loves to work she might
even try for Master hunter work!
In between her training in the field, she would come home to head off to
shows to earn her championship title. She easily gathered those points
necessary, since she not only is built beautifully, but she believes she
is the hottest looking girl in the ring. To say she is a show-off would
be an understatement!
When she finally comes home, Kia will definitely earn obedience titles
and agility too. Since to keep her busy is to keep her happy.
Now when I say her name, I think to myself, "I wouldn't even try to give
her away."
